So, today we are talking about smoothies that make you lose weight. There are many articles in which miraculous and beneficial properties are listed, which include more silky hair, elimination of bags under the eyes, and … the loss of fat. Let’s find out, then, this smoothie diet: 10 recipes to lose weight.

How does it work?

The diet of smoothies — not to be confused with smoothies — focuses on a very concentrated percentage of “fat-burning” or metabolism stimulating or purifying properties which, combined with the satiety caused by the glass of smoothie, would help you lose weight. You can drink them in the morning on an empty stomach to speed up good things like antioxidants and vitamins, or with lunch or dinner. The rules are not very clear, but the recipes are quite precise.

Red fruits

Red fruits, fresh if possible, are, apart from smoothies, the real magic for our body. The recipe includes mixed red fruits such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and currants, combined with a piece of pear and as much water as you need for the consistency you like best. To be enjoyed for breakfast, alongside a lean protein source such as yogurt and cereals such as oats.


Kelp seaweed and chili

It is an alga known and highly appreciated in the East because it is rich in iodine. Precisely for this element, they are used for the thyroid: the dosage, as you can imagine if you have problems with the thyroid, should be clarified with a doctor. Blend it with a pinch of chili, strawberries, and a banana.

Pineapple and cucumber

Cucumber is a food defined as “ negative calories “, moisturizing and fresh; pineapple is a fruit with very few calories and used to accelerate digestion and therefore metabolism. Combining these two foods in a smoothie means a satiating, light, and nutritious bomb. You can use the cucumber without peeling it, or peel it and cut it into pieces. Do the same with the pineapple and blend adding fresh water. It can be a snack or a meal, alongside lean meat.

Apple and grapefruit

the grapefruit vitamins and the apple fibers are a concentrate not only of goodness but also useful for accelerating the metabolism after main meals. Or half an hour earlier. wash the apple and remove the core but do not peel it. Blend it with half a grapefruit in juice and half with chopped pulp. Et voila.


Green apple, parsley, cucumber

This is a “green smoothie”, which in the jargon of miraculous diets means to detox. Parsley is a fat-burning and digestive plant; the green apple is fibrous and very rich in vitamins and good acids, the cucumber is a vitamin and fresh. Combine everything in a blender, peeling the apple or not after washing it, and operate by adding water or oat milk. Also, perfect after sport or movement.

Melon and lemon


Alongside a lean protein source (an egg, white chicken, or turkey meat, they also suggest tofu), this is a perfect smoothie for main meals too. For every 200 g of melon pulp, 1 lemon intended not as juice but as wedges. Blend with fresh water and that’s it.

Lettuce, zucchini, and soy drink

A diuretic and a bowel-friendly smoothie.

Kiwi, spinach, and lettuce

Lots of fiber, antioxidants, and our friend's diuretic property. In addition, it is rich in iron and aids digestion: they recommend it three times a week, in the morning on an empty stomach. Blend a few leaves of fresh spinach, a kiwi, and three lettuce leaves with boiling water and — if you want — a spoonful of honey.


Nopal, celery, grapefruit, and pineapple

Considered a natural diuretic, the protagonist of this smoothie is the nopal … which is the prickly pear. Recently described as “superfood”, it would keep diabetes and cholesterol at bay. Together with celery, cucumber, grapefruit, and pineapple, it increases the fat-burning properties: they suggest this smoothie for two consecutive days on an empty stomach. To be repeated every week. To make it: half a leaf of nopal, two stalks of celery, juice of two grapefruits, a slice of pineapple, and a tablespoon of honey.

Pears, orange, and ginger

Here is an excellent snack, regardless of its miraculous properties. This smoothie is sweet and would take advantage of the fibers of the pear, the vitamins of celery and grapefruit, and the thermoregulatory action of fresh ginger. Blend everything, combining the grapefruit n pulp and not in juice and using freshwater.

Ours do not

There is not much fun to rage in this case either. The NOs are obvious but I am embarrassed to list them:

  • Carelessness: where are the doses? The real why?
  • What about the rest of the day? In the sense: for breakfast, I blend a nopal plantation … and then? Pizza?
  • How long: some speak of two consecutive days, others often, of an empty stomach. In short, it’s a big no.
  • Achtung baby: thyroid, cholesterol, diabetes, fat burner… talk to your doctor, which is better.


While I was writing the article, I had the whole time in my head the scene where Homer from the Simpsons goes on a diet of smoothie food to lose weight. So he rightly followed the instructions to the letter or “blend the food you consume”: one of his smoothies was made up of pizzas, ribs, donuts, and Krusty burgers. Everything is alright.
